We build one-off houses and small developments across Dorset, working either as the main contractor from first spade to handover, or on a shell-and-weathertight basis for self-builders who want to take on the fit-out themselves.
A new build is thirty separate trades arriving in the right order. Most of what goes wrong on a self-build is not workmanship, it is sequencing – and that is the part a builder who has done it for three decades quietly saves you from.

Shell, weathertight or turnkey
Self-builders usually want one of three things from us. A shell package takes you to a structurally complete building. Weathertight adds the roof, windows and external doors so the inside can dry out and internal trades can start. Turnkey is the whole thing, handed over with the keys and the paperwork.
We are happy with any of the three, and we will be straight with you about which one actually suits your time, budget and appetite for managing trades.
Building in a Dorset landscape
Plots in this county often come with conditions attached – an AONB designation, a design code asking for local materials, or a planning officer who wants Purbeck stone or knapped flint on the elevations facing the road. We are comfortable building to those requirements and have the masonry skills in-house to do it properly rather than as an applied strip.

What does it cost per square metre to build a new house in Dorset?
For a good-quality one-off house in the Poole and Dorset area, a realistic build cost is currently £2,200 to £3,200 per square metre for the building itself, excluding the plot, professional fees, and connections. Highly glazed or architecturally complex designs, difficult access and demanding external materials such as stone push that figure higher.
Can you build to a timber frame or SIPs design?
Yes. We do the groundworks and foundations, receive and erect the frame, and take it on through the external envelope and fit-out. Masonry is our trade background but we work with all the common modern systems.
Do you offer a structural warranty?
We work with the standard providers and coordinate their inspections through the build, so the completed house has the warranty a lender or a future buyer will ask for. We will confirm the specific provider and cost as part of the quote.
